Abstract: We shall investigate how Montaigne, in his The Art Of Conversation, gives us an instrument to set up an moral philosophy side o side with the pirronism, as it is given by Sextus Empiricus in his Pirronean Hipotiposes. The first part of this work has an introductory view. So, we will see the general tenets of the skeptical philosophy in his approaching to moral problems, and the instauration of morals in this philosophy. Then we shall examine the general notion of skeptical philosophy and his relationships with some ancient philosophies that, by their side, show some moral themes, as particularly, stoicism and epicurism. As are so few the texts in wich Sextus Empiricus says something about the question of a skeptical philosophy morals, fact that don't allows us to solve in his works the problem completely, we shall do a second part, examining montaignean philosophy in the same spirit. Of course, Montaigne was a reader of Hipotiposes, as his regard to skepticism. As a consequence we shall see how much his philosophy will be sympathetic with skepticism, making some sort of amends, and working up the skeptical model. The Conversation not only as a philosophical model, upgrade the skeptical model and helps us in the comprehension of that philosophy. At the end we shall see the some points about the relationship between skepticism and philosophy at the Essais. Equally, we will understand how will be possible to put the skeptical ratiocination side to side with the moral questions.
