As such, it must serve and be published in the two-year period of 1784 and 1785. The Vicar of Christ, in his compassion for the needs of the Republic’s Christians, and wanting to benignly fulfill these needs, while also addressing the benefits of the Catholic Religion, conceded to the consumption of eggs and milk products during Lent (with the exception of Holy Week) for all Patriarchs, Primates, Archbishops, Bishops, lesser Prelates, and Secular Presbyterians, in the Kingdoms and Dominions of His Catholic Majesty who, upon reading this Summary, can contribute to alleviate the expenses necessarily incurred by the Catholic KING in the War against the Infidels. We, Don Manuel Ventura Figueroa, Archdeacon of Nendos, Dignitary of the Holy Apostolic Metropolitan Church of Santiago, Grand Cross Knight of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III, Governor of the Council and Chamber of Castile, Apostolic General Commissioner of the Holy Crusade and [bearer of] other graces in all the Kingdoms and Commands of His Catholic Majesty, using the Apostolic faculties bestowed upon us, have calculated the amount that every one of the above mentioned Ecclesiastics should donate in order to enjoy the said exemption in this manner.
