Description

Statue of Saint George and metal accessories in a Candomblé shop in Salvador. Saint George represents the orixá Oxossi in Candomblé. The African slaves managed to continue to practice their religious beliefs by disguising their African orixás as Catholic saints. By superimposing a saint on an orixá, Catholics could pray to their saint while the slaves invoked their orixás.Imagem de São Jorge e metais acessórios numa loja de candomblé em Salvador.
