Abstract
The Town and Country Gay Community Survey data results from 2 cross-sectional surveys of gay and homosexually active men recruited through a range of gay community sites in Sydney and regional New South Wales. Data were collected on types of sexual relationships and number of partners, anal and oral intercourse, unprotected anal intercourse, testing for HIV and other STIs, HIV serostatus, recreational drug use, and demographic characteristics such as sexual identity and age. The survey compares two groups of men (from the city and regional areas) on a range of indicators. Sample Population: 1,371 gay and homosexually-active men from Sydney in August 2009 and 469 gay and homosexually-active men men were recruited between August and November 2009 from regional New South Wales. Method of Data Collection: Self-completion. Kind of Data: Survey. Sampling Procedures: Men were recruited from 17 gay social and sexual venues and clinics in Sydney and 29 gay community events, social and sexual venues and clinics in regional New South Wales.
