Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the functional use of email communication by the full-time teaching faculty with at least 10 month term contracts in the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba. The 41 full time teaching faculty with at least a 10 month term contract were surveyed as a cluster sample by written mail questionnaire. Twenty-three questionnaires were returned. The survey consisted of 67 questions which sought to answer four fundamental research questions. (1) How widespread is email use in the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba? (2) How is email being used in the Faculty of Education, niversity of Manitoba? (3) What are the attitudes of the full time teaching staff of the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba toward email technology? (4) What are the demographics of email use in the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba? The study presents a snapshot of faculty use of email technology. Follow-up interviews (which were not a part of the research protocol) might have provided a more detailed picture. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
