The Syriac version of the Romance of Alexander is only one of the Syriac texts featuring the story of the life and conquests of Alexander the Great. It nevertheless represents the most important Syriac work where the tradition concerning Alexander is extensively documented. The analysis of the Syriac text by means of Bachtin’s chronotope method gives way to some new hypothesis about the genre of the text and the imagine of the hero it represents.
