Abstract:
Part 1 of this document deals with the theoretical aspects concerning Geographical Information Systems (GIS) ranging from what GIS is, vector and rastor models, database theory and spatial analysis to web-enabled GIS. The report also covers aspects of geocoding, the building block for crime analysis, since it gives the location of incidents in police station areas of jurisdiction.
