This view looks south from the Botanical Building to the Botanical Gardens and La Laguna de las Flores (Laguna de Espejo, Reflecting Pool, or Lagoon), later Lily Pond. On the left is the Palace of Better Housing, designed as the Commerce & Industries Building for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915, and also known as the Canadian Building, Electric Building, Museum of Natural History, Aerospace Museum and the International Aerospace Hall of Fame, now Casa de Balboa (rebuilt 1980). On the right, the Home Economy Building, also known as the Pan-Pacific Building, Cafe of the World, and American Legion Building, was demolished in 1963 to make way for the Timken Museum.
