Abstract
The article aims at presenting the case of 17th century reception of the concept of Atticism against the background of selected works from the era, having first delineated the approaches from Antiquity, which could serve here as points of reference. The adopted perspective allows for extrapolating the aspect of the understanding of Atticism frequently marginalized by Cicero. At the same time, it presents to the reader the praxis of thinking through the acumen that was one of the key categories of Phoenix rhetorum, a popular in age of Baroque manual of speech, written by Jan Kwiatkowski.
