This survey was conducted to systematically analyze the living conditions and sociopolitical attitudes of the middle class based on quantitative data and is a part of the「Study on the Size, Living Conditions and Attitudes of the Korean Middle Class」which has its purpose in investigating the standards of classifying the middle class and their living conditions and attitudes. The respondents of this survey are divided into two groups defined by theoretical discussions as the new middle class and the previous middle class. The new middle class is composed of office workers, technicians, general civil servants, teachers, and bankers, and the old middle class is composed of small business owners in the sales and service industry.
This data was reconstructed based on the report published in 1985 and does not represent the exact results of the report. The questionnaire includes contents on family relations, household income, attitude towards work, attitude towards job, subjective recognition of living standards, attitude towards discrimination, state of daily life, attitude towards politics, attitude towards social issues, attitude towards labor relations, and trust in major institutions.
