In the process of modernization the introduction of western medicine has led to the view that Korean and Chinese medicine are unscientific and dated, leading to the loss of status of Korean and Chinese traditional medicine. Recently, through its reevaluation traditional medicine has been regaining its former status. This survey was designed to collect basic data needed to illuminate the process of change in the status of Korean and Chinese medicine, and conducted in both countries simultaneously to allow for comparative studies between China and Korea.
The main survey contents include attitude towards Korean (Chinese) medicine, attitude towards nationalism, attitude towards traditionalism, attitude toward modernity, attitude toward traditional medicine philosophy, recent use of medical facilities, and intention of using western and or traditional medical facilities in case of illness.
