Abstract

This survey was conducted by the Korea Institute for Population and Health (the current Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs) to collect basic data for the「Study on the Effectiveness and Efficiency of the Family Planning Program」. This study was conducted as a part of international research project organized by the United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) for the purpose of comparing and evaluating the family planning policies of five Asian countries including Korea.
This study aims to analyze the fertility-lowering effectiveness of the family planning program and independent surveys were conducted among public officials and health workers in charge of the family planning program, and married women.
This data was collected from married women and includes contents on contact with heath workers, supports from heath workers, evaluation on attitudes of heath workers, recognition of the family planning program, needed governmental supports, number of children, childbirth intention, reason for preferring sons to daughters, sense of values on children and childbirth, method of contraception, availability of contraceptive device, necessity of family planning, demand for family planning education, effectiveness of the family planning program.
