An Anger management program for Central California Family Crisis Center

This evidence based anger management program targets adults who are in the legal system for disturbing the peace, destruction of property, or on parole, and court-ordered to an anger management program. The concepts used in this curriculum will assist the targeted population identify feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, associated with anger, and to learn positive coping skills to manage their anger. By participating in this anger management group, participants will be able to better function in the community and improve their personal relationships. The program is a combination of cognitive-behavioral approaches that have been found effective treatments for anger management problems. The curriculum describes a 14-week anger management program, and the objectives of the curriculum are achieved through learning to recognize anger and its physiological and behavioral reactions, relaxation exercises, recognizing and disputing irrational beliefs associated with anger, guided imagery exercises, and assertiveness skills.
