The receptivity of boundary layers on blunt bodies to oscillations in the free streamOne aspect of the boundary layer receptivity problem is examined, that of the flow induced in the bounday layer on the forward portion of a blunt body by unsteadiness in the mean flow. An approximate solution for the disturbances generated in the boundary layer by a long wavelength sound wave impinging normally on the front of a body in steady motion is also provided.
