Previous studies showed that some High Entropy Alloys (HEAs), particularly the ones related to the CrMnFeCoNi system present an exceptional fracture toughness exceeding 200 MPa.m1/2. This value was measured using compact tension (CT) specimens in agreement with ASTM standards but failed the validity criteria. The present study proposes to evaluate the CrMnFeCoNi fracture toughness at room and cryogenic temperatures using the essential work of fracture (EWF) method well adapted for the a simple and efficient characterization of the plane-stress fracture toughness of thin sheets of ductile materials.
