Abstract: The objective of this paper is to clarify the purchase and sales activities by fruit and vegetable providers for lunches in all the elementary schools in Sapporo City. The features of purchasing and sales activities are as follows: 1) The reliability of provider companies in the area is high. 2) From the viewpoint of contractors who do business with these fruit and vegetable providers this reliability is probably due to the fact that they have been delivering to public institutions (the city's primary and high schools) under contract for a long time. 3) Purchases from schools are stable throughout the year. 4) In these providers' actions there is no almost retailing, but they do wholesale to hotels, hospitals and restaurants with the exceptions of school lunches. 5) They do not have any dealings with producers of fruit or vegetables, and all such supplies are chiefly handled by the Central Wholesale Market of Sapporo.
