Abstract: Following the general line of the Bonn NN-interaction, a model for pseudoscalarpseudoscalarmeson interaction has been constructed and applied consistently to$\pi \pi$ and K$\pi$ scattering. The phases can be reproduced with vector meson t- ands-channel exchange up to 1 GeV. The bare masses of the vector mesons turn outto be in the range of 1.1 Ge V, depending on the form factor. We use a coupledchannel formalism, which is crucial to explain the S*(975) resonance as a boundK K state. Beyond 1 Ge V the data require a pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar coupling toa scalar octet (J$^{P}$ = 0$^{+}$) to fit the s-wave phases in the isospin-0 $\pi \pi$ and isospin-$\frac{1}{2}$K $\pi$ channels. We apply both scalar coupling and derivative coupling. The latteravoids introducing additional degrees of freedom and produces an acceptable fitto the J =0 phase shift data.
