Abstract
"The nerd stereotype portrays nerds as white males and thus acts as a ""gatekeeper"" to the acquisition of computer expertise and employment. This article examines three popular culture representations of nerds: the Geek Squad homepages, Weird Al Yankovic's ""White and Nerdy"" video, and various representations of nerdcore, a nerd genre of hip hop."
