We intend to analyze the book Neverness of the author Ana Teresa Pereira, applying the visual studies in particular, focusing on the novel “A primeira noite de quietude” which refers to the film La prima notte di quiete directed by Valerio Zurlini. Their works not only present several similarities on theme and characters, but also reveal a deep reflection on the death. We will examine both poetics, using of the concept of cinema mentale proposed by Italo Calvino to observe as Zurlini’s film is object of visual assimilation in the Pereira’s text.
