Focusing on the many approaches to analytic number theory, including arithmetic functions that illustrate the multiplicative structure of the integers (hence the term anatomy of integers, an expressio... coined by the authors and a third mathematician, Andrew Granville), this text provides as well 263 problems, with answeres included for all the even-numbered ones. Following two introductory chapters describing the basic formulas and the properties of prime numbers, subsequent chapters describe subjects that include the abc conjecture, sieve methods, the global and local behaviors of arithmetic functions, the Euler Function, smooth numbers, and the Dirichlet theorem.
