Description
For the model problem of the heat equation we formulate and describe space-time finite and boundary element methods. Here the discretization is done with respect to rather general discretizations of the space-time cylinder and its boundary. This allows the use of adaptivity both in space and time, but requires the solution of the global system at once. Hence, preconditioning and parallelization are mandatory. Numerical results are given, including first results for the wave equation.
