Earthquake damaged house yet to be torn down Limbu, Bina

Description

Part of this two-storey timber and brick frame house was severely damaged in the 2015 earthquake. Though the family seems to have collected some reusable materials such as window frames and tin roof sheets from the old building, there is no sign of the family undertaking reconstruction work as the skeleton of the old building has not been torn down yet. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
