Doktori dolgozatomban elsősorban a molekuláris genetika segítségével igyekeztem feltárni a Kárpát-medencei édesvízi hidrák populációgenetikai, szaporodásbiológiai tulajdonságait és mutualisztikus kapcsolatait. Ezt munkát 4 tanulmányon keresztül végeztem el melyekből, az 1. tanulmány a hazai populációk populációgenetikai szerkezetét vizsgálta, az állatok szaporodási stratégiáinak szempontjából, valamint az ezzel kapcsolatos genetikai differenciációt. A 2. tanulmány egy általunk régóta vizsgált populációból származó egyedek szaporodási stratégiának pontosabb megértését (ivaros készültségi állapot) célozta laboratóriumi vizsgálaton keresztül. A 3. tanulmány az előző tanulmányban azonosított szaporodási stratégiákat vettette össze az egyedek genotípusával. A 4. tanulmány a Kárpát-medencei hidrapopulációk mikrobiom összetételének és diverzitásának megismerését célozta meg, a lehetséges befolyásoló külső és belső hatótényezők azonosítása és hatásának kimutatása mellett.

In my doctoral dissertation, I explored the population genetic, reproductive biological properties and mutualistic relationships of freshwater hydras in the Carpathian Basin, primarily with the tools of molecular genetics. I carried out this work through 4 studies, the 1. study of which examined the population genetic structure of the Hungarian populations in terms of the reproductive strategies of the animals and their related genetic differentiation. The 2. study aimed at a more accurate understanding of the reproductive strategy (sexual readiness) of individuals from a population we have long studied through laboratory testing. The 3. study compared the reproductive strategies observed in the previous study with the genotype of the individuals. The 4. study aimed to understand the microbiome composition and diversity of the Carpathian Basin Hydra populations, while identifying the potential external and internal influencing factors.
