Abstract
Precipitation (rain and snow) was sampled in Clausthal-Zellerfeld (Harz, Germany) from October 2013 until November 2014. The collected samples were analysed for their chemical composition (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, NH4 +, Cl−, SO4 2−, NO3 −) and the average atmospheric deposition to the ecosystem Harz was calculated. The pH values of the rain water range between 4.4 and 6.8, and the specific electrical conductivities range from 5 up to 43 µS cm−1. Generally, the elemental concentrations decrease with increasing precipitation rates. Distinctive seasonal trends were not observed for the measured parameters.
