To implement the model and as one of the required input data, the biomass of each species (AFDW) for each station was converted to energy Joule values using energy densities (kJ g−1) referring to a global “Conversion factors” data published by Brey et al. (1988, 2010). If no conversion factors were available at the species level, a factor was used from the next highest taxonomic rank.
