Abstract

Pyrochlore from coarse- and fine-grained calcite-carbonatites (sovite) in the Amba Dongar carbonatite-alkaline complex has been analyzed by electron microprobe. There is no systematic change in composition of pyrochlore of these two types of calcite-carbonatite. Two groups can, however, be distinguished based on thorium content, with Th-poor pyrochlore (average 2.24 %) concentrated in coarsegrained sovite and Th-rich pyrochlore (average 13-16 %) predominant in finegrained sovite. The pyrochlore is LREE enriched with a pronounced positive Ce anomaly.
