Abstract
Im Jahre 2016 erreichte das Freiburger Geologenarchiv ein Karton mit Korrespondenz, Zeichnungen und Fotos von Hans Cloos, die ,,irgendwann nach 1968" im Bonner Geologischen Institut geborgen worden seien. Darunter befanden sich auch rund 180 Briefe, die etwas zur Diskussion über die Oszillationstheorie von Erich Haarmann (1930), die Übersetzung des Begriffs ,,igneous rocks" ins Deutsche und über die Verhandlungen zwischen Hans Cloos und seinem Verleger Carl Thost erzählen. In 2016 the ,,Archive for the History of Geology" in Freiburg received a box with correspondence, drawings and photographs attributed to Hans Cloos, which likely have been saved on the occasion of a move within the Geological Institute in Bonn anytime after 1968. Among others, the box included c. 180 letters, which tell about the discussion of the ,,oscillation theory" of Erich Haarmann (1930), the translation of the term "igneous rocks" into German and aspects of negotiations between Hans Cloos and his publisher Carl Thost.
