Vickers Vellore aircraft G-EBYX, crashed at Cape Don.
Type 134 Vellore I, ordered by the Air Ministry in 1926 under s/n J8906, powered by a single 515 hp Bristol Jupiter IX nine-cylinder radial engine it flew for the first time at Brooklands on May 17, 1928. By June 30 it had been registered as G-EBYX. Early 1929 it was re-engined with a Armstrong Siddeley Jaguar VI, and subsequently used by Vickers for a long-distance proofing flight to Australia. Leaving the UK on March 18, 1929, the wing and undercarriage were damaged at Mersa Matruh, Egypt in a forced landing due to engine problems. April 28 the aircraft had been repaired and the aircraft arrived at Cape Don, near Darwin, Australia on May 18, 1929 where the aircraft was wrecked in the landing.
