Abstract
This is a five Year Review of the Alice Springs Water Allocation Plan 2016 to 2026. The Alice Springs Water Allocation Plan 2016-2026 (NTG 2016) for the Alice Springs Water Control District was declared by the Minister for Land Resource Management in the Northern Territory Government Gazette S11 on 16 February 2016.
Section 22B(3) of the Water Act 1992 (the Act) requires that reviews of water allocation plans are conducted at intervals of no longer than five years. For the Alice Springs Water Allocation Plan 2016-2026 (NTG 2016) (the plan), this review is required to be completed before 16 February 2021.
There are two parts to the review of the water allocation plan, this document, the Alice Springs Water Allocation Plan 2016-26 Review Report 2021 (NTG 2021) and its companion document the Alice Springs Water Allocation Plan 2016-26 Technical Review (NTG 2021).
The review fulfils the requirements of a water allocation plan review under Section 22B(3) of the Act. The technical review provides the background information and assessment detail.
There are four elements to the review:
1. assessment of the delivery of plan outcomes
2. compliance with the Act
3. responsiveness to changing environmental, cultural and economic factors
4. recommended revisions to the plan.,
