History
The Kokoku Maru, a stately vessel of 161 tons and 200 hp had a complete transmitting outfit, the necessary salvage gear and a crew of 24. She was the mother ship tending the pearling fleets off Darwin. She sailed to Darwin for refuelling before leaving for Broome on July 25. She also acted as weather reporting ship in the Banda Sea.,
