History

The Squadron was formed at Laverton in Victoria 15 July 1943 and equipped with Lockheed Lodestars. As a transport unit it had a regular route to Perth and back via Darwin. When additional aircraft arrived they added routine courier flights to Alice Springs 3 times a week. These flights carried urgent aircraft spares and personnel required elsewhere. At the beginning of 1945 the aircraft were replaced with Douglas Dakota C-47's. The Unit was disbanded on 24 February 1948.,
