Biographical / Historical note:Charles Maurice Fleischner was born on June 12, 1901 and received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Yale University in 1923 and 1940. Following World War II Fleischner served as deputy chief of the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives Section of the Office of the Military Government for Germany (U.S.)
