Purchased from Dominique Nabokov on the Edith and Richard French Fund and the Edwin J. Beinecke Book Fund, 2004 and 2016.

Nicolas Nabokov (1903-1978)
Nicolas Nabokov was a Russian-born composer and writer. He was first cousin of Russian-American author Vladimir Nabokov. Nabokov was married four times, the last of which was to photographer Dominique Nabokov. He taught at numerous institions including Wells College and the Peabody Conservatory. Nabokov also organized music and cultural festivals in his role as the Secretary General of the Congress for Cultural Freedom.
Processing Information
Collections are processed to a variety of levels, depending on the work necessary to make them usable, their perceived research value, the availability of staff, and competing priorities. The library attempts to provide a basic level of preservation and access for all collections as they are acquired, and does more extensive processing of higher priority collections as time and resources permit.
Former call numbers: Uncat Mss 618 and Uncat Mss 716. In 2014, the collection received a baseline level of processing, including partial rehousing and minimal organization. The collection was reclassed under one call number, materials were organized into series, and containers were renumbered in a single sequence. Most folder titles were based on information provided by the creator or vendor, while some were assigned by Library staff. Folder titles were not verified against contents.

This finding aid may be updated periodically to account for new acquisitions to the collection and/or revisions in arrangement and description.

Opening Hours
Access Information
The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours. You can request collection material online at least two business days in advance of your visit, using the request links in Archives at Yale.
