Scope and Contents

Consists of correspondence, legal and financial documents, writings, photographs and ephemera, and research materials and genealogies pertaining to the Daggett family.

Includes the correspondence of David Daggett, his wife Wealthy Ann Munson Daggett, his sons Leonard Augustus Daggett and Rev. Oliver Ellsworth Daggett, and his grandson Dr. David Lewis Daggett. Also included is correspondence between Dr. David Lewis Daggett and his wife, Margaret Donaldson Gibbons Daggett, their son Leonard Mayhew Daggett, and Margaret's sister Sarah Ellen Gibbons Thompson. Business records include business, legal, and financial records from several members of the Daggett family, including a group of deeds belonging to David Daggett. Also contains estate records and property inventories relating to the deaths of Daggett family members. Research materials consist of biographical information, family histories, obituaries, and geneologies, the majority being compiled by Beatrice S. Bartlett. Included in smaller quantities are papers of Alfred, Ebenezer, Henry (1741-1830), Henry (1758-1843), Horace, Naphtali, and William Daggett. Napthali, who was president of Yale College (1766-1777), and Henry (1758-1843) were father and son; the relationships of other family members is distant or unclear.

The material is arranged into five series: correspondence, business and legal records, writings, photographs and ephemera, and family research materials.

Additional Henry Daggett (1741-1830) material is available in the Hooker Family Papers (MS 289). Additional Naphtali Daggett material is available in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University. Additional David Daggett material is available in the David Daggett Papers (MS 162).
