Scope and Contents
The Herbert Brewster Fuller Papers consist of correspondence written by Fuller to his family in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. The letters span Fuller's undergraduate years at Yale from September, 1896 to June, 1900.
The correspondence deals with life at Yale, covering such topics as sports, housing, co-ed classes, exams, debating, the change of Yale presidents from Dwight to Hadley, commencement, and New Haven weather conditions.

The papers consist of letters to the Fuller family from Herbert Brewster Fuller, Yale Class of 1900. The correspondence deals with life at Yale, covering such topics as sports, housing, co-educational classes, examinations, debating, the change of Yale presidents from Timothy Dwight to Arthur Hadley, commencement, and New Haven weather conditions.
Biographical / Historical
Herbert Brewster Fuller was born on March 17, 1870, in Brunswick, Georgia. His father, Warren Adelbert Fuller, was president of Warren A. Fuller Company and was a lumber merchant in Glen Ridge, N.J. His mother was Mara Fisher (Brewster) Fuller. His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Fuller, Jr. and Sarah Ann (Withington) of Wellesley, Mass., and his maternal grandparents were Francis A. Brewster (M.D. 1840) and Abby (Fisher) Brewster of Hampton, Conn., and Brunswick.
He graduated from Yale in 1900. Yale relatives include a great-grandfather, William A. Brewster (M.D. Hon. 1830). He receoved his first dispute appointment Junior year; dissertation appointment, Townsend Premium, and two-year honors in political science and law Senior year.
He was associated with the Warren A. Fuller Company from 1900-1904, was export manager for W. O. Davey & Sons from 1904-1905,exporters of paper and special board, and sales manager for Bird & Son, Inc. from 1905 until his retirement in 1936. After his retirement he resided in Montclair, N.J. and Stamford, C.T.
He was a corpoal New Jersey State Militia Reserve and on Liberty Bond, Red Cross and Y.M.C.A. fund campaign committees in Glen Ridge in World War I. He was also a clerk for the Glen Ridge Congregational church.
He never married. Fuller died on January 12, 1947 in New Canaan, Connecticut due to a cerembral hemerage.
