TEAM HELD UP. I :!> Plight of All Blacks » Features of Llanelly Match. The 5,000 spectators who turned up at 4 itradev on Saturday to witness the Llan- ofly v. Neath match (writes Wallaby ") were kept for two hours in a state. of anxiety owing to the non-errival of the Visitors. Neath, have an unenviable re- futation in rk>spanvilie for unirecc- yiality, but on this occasion they must b". exonerated from atl blame, as it ap- pears tillat at the eleventh. hour the char- a-banc which they had chartered was commandeered. Finding themselves in a quandary, they wired to the Llanelly club with the view of postponing the match, but evMiUKtUy they were able to induce,? <fl. number of their supporters to surpendec- their char-a-banc, and in this way they succeeded in making the journey. Three changes had to be made in the constitu- tion of the Lally, tetnt owing to in- juries which had been sustained by the < captain (iMi Middlestone), »Jgar Morgan and Gwyn Francis, substitutes being teund in Jack Jones, Joe Owens and Ü. J. 'Phillips. Neath had suffered unex- pected revises, and this led many Lian. ellyites to believe that the Scarlets would < able to wipe the floor with them, but the Ime, which did not commence until 4.35, had not been in progress very long before the All Blacks gave unmisfeakea'ole proof that they coukj not be treated with impunity. INFRINGING THE OFFSIDE RULE. t LntortunateJy for the visitors, their ipside-half showed a tendency to ignore the off-side rule, while their forwards in. txoduced the loose head," and the play suffered in consequence. Early in the game Xeath were penalised, and Albert Jerkins, who was captaining the Scarlets for the first time, landed a magnificent goal. Although, according to the plan of campaign mapped out for the Scarlev forwards thev were to feed their backs ât. all costs, they failed onfe more to hctu the fc'ill. zhe Neath pack controll- in the majority of the scrummages. This is going to spell disaster for the Scarlets in the very near future unless they effect a vast improvement in this direction, and the sooner they get oh. ject; lessons in the art of heeling the bet- it will be for their prospects. All h-IL-iiie must not be placed on the for- | wards, as the inside-half too has his part to, play, and if he finds latitude being allowed his viz-a-vig in the manner in wBich the ball is thrown in, then he Rhould packet his scruples and adopt the same tactics. Seath were giving an infinitely better account of themselves than wa-8 ex- J, petted, and they were dangerous on V 5eieral occasions, but the homesters j. yer.1 easily the better side. Before the ínterral a sparkling passing movement j- amongst the home backs enabled Frank Evans to score in the comer, and al- though the angle was extremely diffi- cuft, Albert Jenkins, who was con- § stantly in the picture, converted. I A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY. ? Neath in the seoo&d moiety made de- f tmliDed efforts to r&dnce their oppo- ? ? nent's lead, and W. HiU, their cu- | £ todian, had a golden opportunity to idrop a goal. He rccetYfd the ball m front of the Llanelly posts, and ha?d pkny of time to steady him5e]i. All odds seemed to be upon him doing the I trick, as be had b&ea giTing an 6é1 I lew a?ccunt of himself, hut the ball I dropped far short. In the final 8tag< the Scadets increased their points through Aneurin Thomas scoring an un- converted try. This score will tive long in the memory of tticfe who "ttitnMsedit owing to the unorthodox manner in which it was registered. Securing the ball in the Neath 2-">, Aneurin, to use a hackneyed plirase which was never mote applicable than on this occasion, went, for the objective in a bull at a gate style. Two visitors tried to upset his calculations, but the Llanelly forward, to avoid being tackled, bent his head low, charged into them,, and then flung himself over the Neath line. The spec- tators were expecting to see the three laid out. 1)11". they all escaped injury. I WF 'MERITED SCORE. I In the la. minute of the game*, Neath, after having stubbornly resisting Llsm-i elly's desperate attacks for a while, raced np the field, and from a scram, near the home line' thp visiting halves tried to feed their backs, but in quick succession the were pushed aside by Percy Roberts, DX-.M., the son of Xed Robert*, the old f anions Llp.nelly and Welsh Inter- national fall back, who was making Ms de-huc in a Scarlet jersey.. Both lost the l hajl, but it wae gathered up by Hill, who, fgnoriryg his right centre, flung it to Eric Leans who at. tip-top apeed managed to evade both Frank Kvans and Hugh Jones, and score" a try which was -If Milr merited as it was en Hi usr.astieallv • cheered. The try was un con vetted, and Llanelly thus. won by one con verted goal one penalty- goal one try to ens try. GOOD FEELING. I Many game3 between the- old rivals iii the past have been epoilt by rough piay, but it is pleasing to record iliat on Saturday the Vst of feeling prevailed throughout. The visitors have the mak- ing of a good team. Individually their Kick s were dever. but they lacked com- bination, and at tjm tl{:r ente:prise was eadl, deficient. They were all very keen, and had it not been for Llanelly** clever deipBef the would have scored mort7 than the sortary try which re- warded their efforts in the very last minute of the game. For the Scariete Albert Jenkins WP-t once more the shining light although Graha.m 4Daviss and Bryn Evans also did well in the three-quarter line while LléW' Bennett at outside was ever on the alert and did a lot of useful work. Special mention must ateo be made of P. Roberts w ho inade feis initial appear- ance at inside batf. At the outset he seemed soniehat nervous, but after this he warmed to his work and gave a very creditable display. He certainly has the making and should be persevered with. George Morgan, T. J, Bowen and Jack Jones vers easily the best of the Llanelly forwards. On the losing side W. Hill at full-back Wig sound, WIlilS ETIC Evans, Hm and Millett were the of the three's. Thomas at inside half did his team more hatm than good through his off-side tactics. Of the Neath forwards W. TTonkins, W. Powell and Mog, Lloyd wers the best.

Frisby was a second lieutenant, and throughout he has distinguished him- self by his personal popularity and great bravery. The official account of his ex- ploits says: He distinguished fiimself dur- ing the attack on Maissemy on September 15. 1918, and again on September 18th, when fye did valuable service by recon- noitring and forming lateral eommunk a- j tion across the marshes rjorth of Pontm. ] On September 2i, when reconnoitring be- fore the attack he bed a bombing en- counter with an enemy patrol. His con- j dud. during the operations on October 17 j and 18 was of a high order, ) LLANELLY SOLICITOR. j Capt. On the night of September 19- L'O, 1918, he pushed on into Jurish in the tog, light through the enemy line, and in the morning the enemy found his company I in their rear, and surrendered. Ca. He has commanded the 1th Welsh, and has also I been second in command and adjutant. In connection with the same battalion, a bar to the D.S.O. has been given to ¡ Lieut.-Col. A. P.
