Abstract
The objective of this study is to access the potentials and limitations of the Sandy Point Domain, Invercargill. It is to form the basis for a recreational policy statement by the Invercargill City Council on planning of the Domain, so that the most desirable landscape practices are incorporated in the future development. General planning criteria for the development of the extensive gravel pit areas shall be outlined so that their optimum potential can be realised. In this way development should maintain and enhance the natural environment as well as provide a variety of recreation facilities.
