Design and development of an interactive events app providing event reminders based on user location

Mobile devices today along with voice communication, provide us with a whole host of services such as instant messaging, video streaming, web surfing, social services (Twitter, Facebook) etc, where ever we go, through the use of mobile applications more commonly known as apps. In the mobile application world, the hottest apps today are the ones that target the users wireless location which are called location based services apps. A location based service is a software application made for an IP-capable mobile device that requires knowledge of where the device is currently located. They are generally query-based services providing users with answers to queries such as where is the nearest ATM[2]. The focus of this project is to create a location based services app (called CalQuest) using Google's powerful open source Android platform along with Google services such as Google Calendar and Google Maps to create a calendar application that reminds users about events based on their event location.
