Masters Thesis

Overtime : and other stories

Overtime and Other Stories is a creative thesis. It consists of a short story collection plus an essay entitled: "Time and Order in Fiction." There are eight short stories. No specific themes were purposely traced from one story to the next, but thematic similarities did occur. The topics range from the pains of growing up, and the mutability of human relationships, to the arduous nature of the professional world. In “Time and Order in Fiction'' I examined how time affects fiction. After discussing this, I demonstrated how an understanding of the time-fiction relationship can be useful to authors as well as critics.
