Impact of job insecurity on job performance

Job security is important as ever in today's economic and technological change. This paper explores the important role job insecurity (independent variable) plays in employee work performance (dependent variable). The main purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that influence the impact of job insecurity on job performance. Furthermore, the study will examine the consequences of these factors on the perception of job insecurity, and in turn, job performance, of employees in the public sector. This quantitative study will be conducted through the use of a survey of 51 employees in a division of the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Health. The aim of this study is to increase the generalizability of past studies by applying it to the public sector, as well as provide public sector managers and employees with a basis for coping with the effects of job insecurity.
