Study of Substance Abuse Programs for Veterans

This graduate project seeks to study the available substance abuse programs for veterans. This paper explores the history and trends, alcohol and the military, have had on veterans. As of 2017, there is an estimated total of 18.2 million veterans living in the United States (DADS, 2019). The number of women serving in the military and deployed to active-duty is unprecedented in the history of the United States (Boyd, Bradshaw Robinson, 2013, p. 10). Veterans life can be troubling and statistics have shown with veterans committing suicide at a rate of 22 veterans per day ("Veterans for Common Sense," 2019). This research will seek to study substance abuse programs for veterans. This study will examine the various trends within substance abuse programs.
