Do you know the deadline? An Android application for the students of Sac State

"Do You Know the Deadline?" is an Android application specifically developed for the students at the California State University, Sacramento. The main objective of this mobile application is to help the students keep track of all the notifications from various departments the student has subscribed for. For example, an international graduate student with a major in Computer Science would ideally subscribe for: Graduate Studies, Office of Global Education, Department related to the student's major, Career Center, UEI jobs, Career Connection etc. The application reduces the overhead of missing the deadlines/notifications from each department the student is associated with. The application is developed on the idea of having a web crawler that can parse the CSUS web pages, to fetch information relevant to notifications, events or deadlines. This forms the business logic of the application and is based on the rules developed for the web crawler. The application is designed as a web API with an Android client that provides the user interface. It also provides an administrator interface for managing the database of the application. The application uses PHP for developing the web API and hence, it can be hosted on the campus with the prior permission of the instructors. The Android user interface has to be published in the Google play store for making the mobile application available to the students.
