Abstract

The Descent of Ina (a feature film script) is a psychological drama that probes postpartum mental health, unprocessed grief, mother-daughter relations, betrayal, and the blurred lines between memory and story, birth and death. The script's title and themes are loosely inspired by the Mesopotamian goddess Inanna's descent to the underworld. Logline: Over the course of one summer, while battling writer’s block, a slow slide into addiction, and a sudden onslaught of violent fantasies about her baby, a troubled novelist is forced to confront both her traumatic past and the ugly truth about her marriage.
