| Abstract: | Currently, deforestation and clandestine inerts extraction are two illegal activities taking place on the islands of Sao Tome and Principe. These actions are mainly due to the exponential increase of the population and the necessity to use materials such as wood and sand for the construction of buildings. Therefore, in this work, one seeks to establish sustainable development concepts through new construction methods, meeting the present needs and safeguarding the future of next generations. Therefore, based on the experiences acquired along the professional career and the possibility of accomplish two projects with real clients, it was possible to investigate several popular construction techniques, in order to become models to find current techniques, based on materials such as earth coming from Sao Tome. The goal of the dissertation is to make known these materials and construction systems based on the experience of designing two houses in Sao Tome. |
| Description: | Atualmente, a desflorestação e extração ilegal de inertes são duas atividades ilegais que acontecem nas ilhas de São Tomé e Príncipe. Estes devem-se, principalmente, ao aumento exponencial da população e à grande necessidade de utilização dos materiais como a madeira e a areia para a construção de edifícios. Por isso, neste trabalho, procura-se estabelecer conceitos de desenvolvimento sustentável através de novos métodos construtivos, dando resposta às necessidades do presente e salvaguardando o futuro das gerações seguintes. Por conseguinte, com base nas experiências adquiridas ao longo do percurso profissional e a possibilidade de realizar dois projetos, com cliente reais, foi possível investigar diversas técnicas de construção populares, com o intuito de se tornarem modelo para encontrar técnicas atuais, tendo como base matérias como a terra provenientes de São Tomé. O objetivo da dissertação é dar a conhecer esses materiais e sistemas construtivos tendo por base a experiência do projeto de duas casas em São Tomé. |
