Landscape archaeology & employment policies: collective memory and employment prospects in the archeological landscape of Emilia-Romagna (Italy)
Resumo
The ancient landspace that preserves the identity of a country can drive
growth and employment. The historical landspace is the guideline to build and give
meaning to the modern landspace. In order to obtain this, it is needed to create professional
employees that are able to give back voice to a territory, that transformed by
constructions connected to the industrialisation has been left speechless, and transform
the collective memory in collective conscience. Generally, the challenge is
arduous in Italy. Particularly in industrialised areas such as Emilia Romagna where
the archeological landscape is often invisible under the modern towns. However,
several studies of urban topography have demonstrated how large the pool of knowledge would be available if human resources would be invested and if the dignity of
the places could mean also dignity of labour.
