융복합적 관점에서 본 인문학의 재편: 푸코/세르, 월러스틴, 윌슨에게서 배우기

Abstract

자본 축적의 방식이 인지자본주의로 변하고 그에 따라 과학기술이 GNR

혁명처럼 폭발적으로 발전하면서 학문과 지식 생산 방식에도 일대 혁명이 예

고되고 있다. 얼마 전부터 국내에서 논의가 시작된 학문융복합 문제는 이러

한 맥락을 전제로 하여 제기되고 있는 것이다. 하지만 국내 대학은 여전히 분

과학문의 틀에 갇혀 있다. 그런데 학문융복합 내지는 통섭의 문제가 본 궤도

에 오른 것도 아니지만 윌슨 중심의 자연과학 환원주의에 바탕을 둔 통섭(統

攝)이 학문의 세계에서 지배적인 경향을 보인다는 것이 본고의 문제의식이

다. 본고는 통섭이 윌슨 식의 통섭이 아니라 학문의 영역들 간에 중심성이 인

정되지 않는 통섭(通攝)이어야 한다는 견해를 밑바탕에 깔고 있다.

최근 인지과학에 대한 관심이 인문과학자들 사이에서 늘어나고 두 문화

간의 소통이 이루어지고 있는 상황에서 본고는 이와 같은 문제의식을 토대

로 하여 자연과학의 성과를 그대로 인정하되 인문과학의 입장에서 통섭 문

제를 살펴보고자 한다. 그리하여 본고는 푸코와 세르로부터 인문과학 그 자

체가 이미 통합적인 학문의 성격을 갖고 있다는 사실을 보여주려고 한다. 그

러나 그렇다고 해서 인문과학 자체의 우월성을 제시하려는 것은 아니며 두

문화를 동시에 뛰어넘어 학문의 새로운 영역을 탐구하는 것이 목적이다. 본

고는 그 목적을 수행하기 위한 기초적인 노력의 일환이다.

The big change and rearrangement of sciences is expected because of the speedy

development of science technology to contribute to the new way of accumulation of

capital such as cognitive capitalism. GNR revolution is a great example. The convergence

of sciences or consilience has been currently said and discussed among us under

this context. But our universities has been generally confined to a narrow system of

disciplinary science. The authentic communication between sciences has not yet been

achieved. The discussion about the convergence of sciences is going on the way after a

book on consilience by E. Wilson was introduced in Korea. This treatise aims to argue

that human science itself has a character of convergence or consilience, if it is analyzed,

based on thoughts of M. Foucault and Serres. But this treatise does not negate natural

science and at the same time argue the superiority of human science. It only investigates

the possibility of human science itself to contribute to the generation of new or 3rd

sphere of science where all sciences can jump together in that people have recently been

interested in cognitive science and communication between two cultures of natural

science and humanities.
