Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the performance of heavy-weight floor impact noise of hollow core slabs
compared to the normal solid concrete slabs. Total 7 specimens sized 3m×4.2m were tested. And computational sound power
analysis was performed to verify the test results. Main variables were the kinds of structural slab, thickness of hollow core, and
the existence of finishing and noise insulators. Dynamic analyses were performed to analyze the natural frequency and period,
mode shapes, frequency domain and sound power of the two-way and one-way slabs. Following to the test results, it was found
that the heavy-weight floor impact sound pressure level was decreased considerably when hollow core slab was used. Floor
impact sound pressure level was decreased up to 4~5㏈, but the effects of slab thickness and the existence of noise insulators
were insignificant. Computational analysis results revealed this effect was mainly caused by the difference of the structural slab
system. Hollow core slab is used the one-way slab system, and this structural slab system affects the dynamic properties of the
slab.
