1990년대 이후 조선족의 도일과 정주화: 가족 분산과 재결합의 관점에서

Abstract

이 글의 목적은 1990년대 이후 조선족의 도일과 정착 과정을 가족 분산과 재결합의 관점에서 고찰함으로써 동아시아에 걸쳐 사는 조선족의 실태와 특징을 부각하는 데 있다. 1980년대 초반 국비 유학생을 필두로 시작된 조선족의 일본행은 1990년대 들어 급증했고 현재에 이르기까지 사반세기를 넘는 역사를 새겨왔다. 일본 조선족사회의 중심 구성원인 유학생의 도일 배경에는 한국행을 선택한 부모세대의 경제적 지원이 중요한 역할을 했다. 따라서 도일하는 조선족 유학생뿐만 아니라 부모세대의 역할을 염두에 두고 조선족의 도일과 오늘날 일본에서 형성되는 조선족사회를 이해하고 파악할필요가 있다. 다시 말해 조선족의 일본행과 한국행은 한 가족 세대 간에 동시에 진행되는 유기적인 연관 속에서 포괄적으로 이해되어야 할 것이다. 조선족의 가족 분산과 재결합은 바로 가족의 생존전략이자 생활실천을 의미하며 그 함의는 초국가적이며 지역적인 관점에서 파악할 수 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the reality and the characteristics of Joseon-jok residing across various East Asian countries by looking at their immigration and settlement process from a particular viewpoint of the scattering and reunion of families. The advent of Joseon-jok in Japan has started in the early 1980s when foreign students came to study in Japan with the Chinese governments sponsorship. The number of Joseon-jok immigrants significantly increased in the 1990s and since then, the history of Joseon-joks immigration to Japan has reached more than a quarter of the century. The financial support of parent generations who decided to go to South Korea for work has played an important role in the immigration process of the foreign students who are the core members of the Joseon-jok society in Japan. Therefore, when analyzing and studying Joseon-joks immigration to Japan and their society in Japan today, it is necessary to understand not only the Joseon-jok students who came to Japan but also the role of their parent generations. In other words, Joseon-joks migration to both Japan and South Korea has to be comprehensively understood in the context of organic connection between two generations of families. For them, the scattering and reunion of families is their survival strategy and life practice itself. Therefore, its implication can be grasped from a transnational and regional perspective.
