Achieving the mission: Australian civil-military operations in Somalia, March-May 1993
The final 10 weeks of Australian operations in Somalia were a combination of maintaining pressure on those who would threaten the distribution of humanitarian aid and helping facilitate the return of the rule of law in face of political instability and organised crime. The 1 RAR Battalion Group gave Somalis in their area of operations respite from organised violence as well as a little bit of hope for the future.
