Abstract
Description
This panel session at the 2012 Co-operating to Build a Better Nova Scotia Conference in Halifax was about the best practices for engaging youth in credit unions. With the current shift in demographics in Nova Scotia including an aging population and youth outmigration from rural areas, credit unions are faced with the challenge of engaging youth to be active members within the organization, and active participants in their community, while also increasing the number of young member owners to bring new energy and leadership into the organization. This panel featured some of the leading credit unions engaging youth in Nova Scotia who wished to share what they are doing and what they have learned to help other credit unions and cooperatives with their youth engagement strategies.
